Trump to Welcome DP World Tour Championship
So, Donald J. Trump finally gets his wish.
On Tuesday, the DP World Tour stated that the Scottish Championship is set to come back to the Tour and take place at the Trump International Golf Links.
The final Championship took place in October 2020 with Adrian Otaegui winning by four strokes over Matt Wallace at Fairmont St Andrews.
With some typical exaggeration from Trump, the courses situated just north of Aberdeen are hands down the finest links and golf courses in all of Scotland, end of story.
This is a golf course that previously focused on grouse hunting until Trump acquired it from an American owner and developed it into a facility aimed at potentially hosting a DP World Tour tournament, or perhaps even a major championship.
As with most Trump endeavors, controversy followed the golf course’s purchase and development.

However, even now, the residents of Aberdeenshire have no interest in engaging with the Trump organization or his golf course along the North Sea.
If you've spent the past two decades living in a basement, you might be unfamiliar with the Trump course located near Aberdeen. However, it’s evident that this course stands out as one of the finest on the DP World Tour, which predominantly hosts competitions internationally.
“Trump International Golf Links Scotland has already earned a reputation as one of the best modern links courses in the UK, and it promises to be an excellent venue for the return of the Scottish Championship to our schedule, Guy Kinnings, CEO of the DP World Tour, said.
With Trump persona non grata in Scotland and the DP World Tour shunning the venue for over a decade, why now?
And is this a wise choice?
Finding good venues is challenging, and in Scotland, even fewer can accommodate the setup needed for a DP Toru event while also ensuring a competitive atmosphere.
The Trump course meets those requirements, but at what price?
That is still to be determined.
