MAGA Cafe Shutters After Peddling Racist-Tinted Pancakes

A café in Sydney that featured a Donald Trump theme has shut down just weeks after opening.

According According to the New York Post, Mark Da Costa launched Bueno Eatery in St. Peter’s in March following the closure of his Waterloo cafĂ©, Hale and Hearty, in 2020 due to several online scandals. In these incidents, he referred to a local resident using a homophobic slur. Additionally, he had proclaimed his cafĂ© as a 'safe haven for Donald Trump supporters' and offered pancakes accompanied by what was described as ‘a side of racism.’

When the restaurant initially opened, Da Costa spoke to news.com.au about his upbringing and his desire to "'move past' the controversies surrounding him due to Trump, with this new establishment located at the end of Newtown’s famous King Street."

However, after just six weeks, Da Costa announced the closure of the cafe, posting a photo of himself "in his Trump shirt, posting a photo of himself in a MAGA shirt and giving the finger to the camera."

Da Costa, who had earlier appeared on Australian Idol, attributed the downfall of his restaurant to what he called "snowflakes," similar to when he blamed the “left-leaning faux vegans” following the closure of Hale and Hearty, telling those criticizing him to go take care of themselves.

He has pledged to unveil a "track" regarding Bueno's downfall and informed news.com.au that Newtown is teeming with rodents and hirsute males.

Although this attempt by an Australian group supporting Trump did not succeed, individuals in the United States have had mixed levels of success when they ventured into establishing Trump-themed eateries.

In Punta Gorda, Florida, one local business owner named Tom Watson dressed up his establishment into the " MAGA Cafe " in 2020, which he said was to attract "positive energy." And in Texas, the Trump Burger restaurant chain has created effectively a shrine to the president out of the building.
