Arkansas Advocates Sound Alarm: Federal Funds Freeze Imperils Vital Services

Survivors of sexual assault and their supporters convened in Little Rock on Tuesday to demonstrate against a halt in federal funds, which they believe might lead to severe repercussions.
Representatives from the Arkansas Coalition Against Sexual Assault demanded the swift release of approximately 900 federal grants associated with the Violence Against Women Act.
These grants, handled by the Department of Justice with a total value around $684 million, were taken down from an official government site back in February. Supporters caution that should this financial support not be reinstated, essential aid for victims—such as housing, advocacy, and therapy—could face significant risks.
The Department of Justice has mentioned that the money is being examined to make sure it matches the administration’s goals. It is still uncertain whether or when these funds will be distributed.
