Alex Palou Discusses Sonsio Grand Prix at IndyCar Driver Fitness Expo

INDIANAPOLIS – On Monday, three-time IndyCar Series champion Alex Palou talked with FOX59/CBS4’s Hannah Follman.

In the interview, Palou talked about securing victory at the Children’s of Alabama Indy Grand Prix on Sunday. When the checkered flag was waved, he had maintained a lead of over 16 seconds ahead of the competition.

It was a fantastic weekend at Barber Motorsports Park," Palou stated. "The car is simply incredible. Our strategy played out flawlessly. Adding another victory to our tally this season. This has been an outstanding beginning to the season. A great way to launch the month of May, and yes, I'm looking forward to the upcoming races.

This season, Palou has secured victories three times so far. His previous two triumphs were achieved during the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg in Florida and the Thermal Club IndyCar Grand Prix held in California.

Even with his achievements, Palou remains concentrated on upcoming races, such as this weekend’s Sonsio Grand Prix at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course.

I mean, we triumphed here last year, so our aim is to maintain the same performance as we had then," stated Palou, the winner of the 2024 Sonsio Grand Prix. "The contest here at the Indianapolis road course is incredibly challenging. It's an awesome track with a very smooth surface. As a result, every competitor is extremely tight-knit, making it both exhilarating and difficult. We're planning to replicate what we accomplished last year.

In his conversation with Follman, Palou discussed the event he participated in on Tuesday — the IndyCar driver fitness expo held at IMS.

We're doing fantastic," Palou stated. "Getting reacquainted with the fitness realm and looking forward to the month of May. The venue might not resemble how it will appear on race day, yet being here remains truly remarkable.
