Witt's Clutch RBI Single Sparks Royal Rally, Seals Victory Over White Sox

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — In a wild ninth-inning surge at Kauffman Stadium, Bobby Witt delivered a clutch single with the bases full, leading the Kansas City Royals to a narrow victory over the Chicago White Sox with a final score of 4-3 on Tuesday night.
This marked the second time in his career that Witt achieved a walk-off hit, after hitting a game-ending grand slam in 2023.
Mark Canha drew a bases-loaded walk against Cam Boozer (0-3) to begin the ninth inning. Drew Waters followed with a hit. a popup that struck second baseman Chase Meidroth’s head into the correct field, however, Michael A. Taylor’s toss veered off target at second base. Freddy Fermin managed to get a hit with his bunt, loading the bases. Following this, after Kyle Isbel flied out, Jonathan India tied the game with a fielder’s choice, and then Witt came through with a single into center field.
Taylor Clarke (1-0) secured the victory in relief.
The Chicago White Sox took an early lead with an RBI hit from Brooks Baldwin in the fourth inning, bringing home Matt Thaiss.
Thaiss started the sixth inning with a single and advanced to second base due to a wild pitch. He moved to third base on a groundout and scored when Vaughn’s ground ball slipped past the glove of third baseman Jonathan India, resulting in an error.
Isabel started the bottom of the sixth with a line-drive homer that barely cleared the fence in right-center field.
In the eighth inning, the White Sox scored another run with an RBI hit from Josh Rojas, bringing the score to 3-1.
Salvorado Perez hit a double in the eighth inning, allowing Vinnie Pasquantino to score and bringing the Royals within one run.

The Royals had runners at first and second with only one away, falling behind 2-1 during the seventh inning. Nevertheless, reliever Steven Wilson induced Fermin to foul out and subsequently got Isbel out on a fielder’s choice to conclude the frame.
