Polls will be open Tuesday for a light Election Day in Upper Michigan. Only a few communities have issues on the ballot.
Voters in the Lake Linden-Hubbell school district face two propositions to consider. Citizens are deciding whether to extend the district’s non-homestead operational tax levy and/or approve a $6.5 million bond proposition aimed at enhancing district facilities.
Along with the school millage and proposal, Lake Linden village also has a millage renewal on the ballot. Should it pass, this measure will renew for an additional five years.
The Gladstone schools also have two bond proposals on the ballot. Should it be approved, Proposal One will introduce extra classrooms along with a versatile facility at Cameron Elementary School. Additionally, this proposal includes upgrading rooftops and playgrounds across district schools. Meanwhile, Proposal Two aims to construct a multifunctional space specifically for the high school.
The Gwinn school district is proposing a bond. The school district is requesting an increase of 3.1 mills. This amounts to $3.10 for every $1,000 of taxable value. They aim to secure nearly $31 million through this measure. These funds will be used for renovating parts of the middle and high schools, constructing additional facilities at the school site, and improving overall security within the buildings.
Richmond Township is seeking approval for a millage proposal.
The polling stations will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
