Two Injured as Scuffle Erupts into Shooting in Amite
The Amite Police Department has offered additional details about a double shooting that occurred on Monday evening in Amite.
According to police, the shooting occurred at the corner of South Fifth Street and Martin Luther King Drive approximately at 7 p.m.
Sign up for our NewslettersBoth a 17-year-old and an 18-year-old suffered from gunshots and were rushed to a nearby medical facility.
Based on initial findings from law enforcement, it appears that multiple individuals were present during a physical confrontation when gunfire occurred.
The status of the two individuals has not been disclosed as yet.
Sources indicate that an individual was hit in the head and someone else was struck in the abdomen.
Detectives are continuing to gather evidence and speak with witnesses.
