'Trump's Spy Chief Blasts WSJ: 'Be Ashamed!' Over Report on New Espionage Effort
President Donald Trump's director of national intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard , lashed out at the Wall Street Journal on Tuesday following the publication of an article by the outlet. explosive report outlining a significant fresh American intelligence initiative centered on Greenland .
The move – reportedly tied to Trump’s longstanding fascination with acquiring the island From Denmark — following an "emphasis directive" from multiple senior officials within Gabbard’s office sent to key leaders of intelligence agencies earlier this week. These officials instructed these agencies to ramp up espionage activities in Greenland with the aim of collecting information about the island’s independence efforts as well as local sentiments regarding U.S.-based natural resource exploitation.
But Gabbard responded with strong criticism in a harshly worded statement, alleging that the Journal was putting people at risk. national security .

Gabbard stated, "The Wall Street Journal ought to feel shame for assisting those who aim to destabilize the President by turning sensitive data into political ammunition." She added, "These actions violate laws and threaten both our country’s safety and democratic principles."

The classified initiative revealed by the Journal’s exclusive report Tuesday includes the use of “surveillance satellites, communications intercepts and spies on the ground, to identify people in Greenland and Denmark Who supports America's goals for the island."
The directive marks one of the Trump administration’s first tangible moves toward advancing the president’s obsession with taking over Greenland, the Journal reported.
"The president has made it abundantly clear that the U.S. is deeply worried about the security of Greenland and the Arctic region," said National Security Council spokesperson James Hewitt to the Journal. He further mentioned that White House does not issue comments regarding intelligence operations.
