Trump Issues Ultimatum: US States Must Decide on Ukraine War

The US President, Donald Trump, has indicated that it is now necessary to take decisive action concerning the conflict in Ukraine. Nonetheless, he expressed his displeasure with this situation when addressing reporters at the White House.

During his conversation with reporters, Trump was questioned regarding Russia's conflict with Ukraine, particularly concerning recent remarks made by U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance, who stated that Russia is asking for too much in talks.

"It's quite feasible that he might be correct. He could possess certain knowledge since I've been handling this along with several other matters. However, we're reaching a stage where decisions will inevitably need to be taken. This does not please me," Trump replied.

Idea of a ceasefire

In March, the US suggested a complete 30-day truce between Ukraine and Russia. Kyiv promptly consented, whereas Moscow imposed stringent requirements.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov justified the refusal by claiming that during a ceasefire, Ukraine could allegedly receive new weapons and reinforcements. He also said there would be no one to monitor compliance with the truce on the front lines.

In the meantime, State Department representative Tammy Bruce pointed out that should there be no advancements, the US might withdraw from its position as a facilitator in the talks.

Trump himself acknowledged that talks to end the war in Ukraine are more difficult than expected, and that reaching an agreement will require more time and effort.

Yesterday, Trump declared that he was set to deliver a significant historical announcement prior to departing for Saudi Arabia.
