Trump and Global Leaders Respond to India's Strikes in Pakistan Following Kashmir Attack

NEW DELHI (News In A Day) – India stated that it carried out attacks on Pakistan shortly after daybreak on Wednesday, in response to a recent lethal assault on tourists in Kashmir. Pakistan confirmed eight casualties and mentioned they were countering the Indian military actions.

Here’s what international figures have had to say regarding the recent tensions between these two nuclear-capable neighbouring countries:

U.S. PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP

"It's a shame. Just heard about it. I guess people knew something was going to happen based on a little bit of the past. They've been fighting for a long time. They've been fighting for many, many decades. I hope it ends very quickly."

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio

"I am monitoring the situation between India and Pakistan closely. I echo @POTUS's comments earlier today that this hopefully ends quickly and will continue to engage both Indian and Pakistani leadership towards a peaceful resolution."

SPOKESPERSON FOR U.N. SECRETARY-GENERAL ANTONIO GUTERRES

The Secretary-General is deeply troubled by the Indian military activities spanning the Line of Control and the international border. He urges both nations to exercise maximal military self-restraint. A military conflict between India and Pakistan would be unsustainable for the global community.

JAPAN CHIEF CABINET SECRETARY YOSHIMASA HAYASHI:

Regarding the terror attack in Kashmir on April 22nd, our nation unequivocally denounces these acts of violence. Additionally, we voice significant apprehension that this incident could precipitate more reprisals and potentially spiral into an extensive military confrontation. To maintain tranquillity and security across South Asia, we urgently implore both India and Pakistan to demonstrate moderation and work towards stabilising the scenario via discussions.
