Sturgeon Bay Council Set to Vote on Hotly Debated Rezoning Proposal

STURGEON BAY, Wis. (WBAY) — During the Common Council meeting on Tuesday evening in Sturgeon Bay, council members considered a rezoning request that could pave the way for building residences within the 1200 block of North 8th Avenue. This plan has raised worries among residents living close by.

As previously reported, the people we interviewed anticipate that if approved, they will encounter problems such as overcrowding, increased traffic congestion, and various other concerns.

A lot of people are worried about losing space, believing it might decrease the worth of their properties.

"And it's challenging because these are beautiful homes with large yards, but you must understand that anything without a sidewalk could potentially be part of the roadway," explained Seth Wiederander, who serves as an alderman for District 6.

A number of councilmembers expressed their desire for the proposal to be sent back to the planning committee.

Ultimately, the board decided to proceed with that proposal.
