Pacers' Haliburton's Clutch 3-Pointer Puts Cavs in a 0-2 Hole

Indiana overcame a 14-point deficit in the fourth quarter and secured the victory with the last eight points of the game within 58 seconds, winning Game 2 on Tuesday night. 120-119 . And with that, the Pacers now take a commanding 2-0 lead in the NBA playoffs second-round series as it heads to Indiana.

The Pacers gradually reduced the late lead thanks to a powerful layup by forward Pascal Siakam, which narrowed the gap to just three points with 28 seconds remaining. However, the Cavaliers couldn’t manage an effective inbound play when guard Max Strus threw a pass that was effortlessly picked off by Pacers guard Andrew Nembhard.

Pacers point guard Tyrese Haliburton, playing with an injured left wrist, then was fouled on a drive. He made the first free throw, closing the deficit to two points. Haliburton recovered his own rebound, reset the offense and then laced a step-back 3-pointer with 1.1 seconds left.

With no timeouts left, the Cavaliers were unable to advance the ball.

The loss spoiled a 48-point, nine-assist masterpiece from Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell, while the Pacers had six players reach double figures; forward Aaron Nesmith and center Myles Turner led the way with 23 points apiece.

The Cavaliers were missing three key players — Darius Garland, Evan Mobley, and De'Andre Hunter.

The third game will be held in Indianapolis on Friday at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.
