OHIO COUNTY, W.Va. (WTRF) – The Ohio County Sheriff’s Office just added another tool to help them keeps the streets safer.
Not long ago, the Sheriff's Department welcomed a second police dog into their team.
K9 Kronos is a 20-month-old German Shepard. He arrived from Germany in March, and just recently hit the streets with his handler Deputy Kyle Dailey.
Kronos has been educated in numerous abilities such as detecting drug odors, locating missing persons, capturing suspects, and many others.
When it comes to the immense value of a K9 unit, I speak from experience as a former K9 handler with the Ohio County Sheriff’s Office, believing they are indispensable to the community.
Deputy Chief Kent Lewis – Ohio County Sheriffs Department
It will certainly benefit the residents since he plans to remove drugs from the streets. Although his primary focus might be Ohio County, he intends to cover the entire Ohio Valley region. Given that Ohio lies just across the river and Pennsylvania is adjacent via the state border, individuals frequently move between these areas. Therefore, even though he’ll primarily operate in Ohio County, he expects to tackle drug issues originating from various locations."
