Nightclub Owner in Oakland Claims Break-Ins Have Cost Nearly $100,000

The Oakland Police Department mentioned that they are currently looking into a break-in incident that occurred at a nightclub sometime during the early hours of April 29th.

The burglary occurred around 3 a.m. on the 300 block of 15th Street near Que Rico Nightclub.

For the entrepreneur, this incident marks yet another burglary that will contribute to the escalating expenses for repairing damages and replacing stolen merchandise.

Valentino Carrillo, who owns Que Rico Nightclub, stated that the recent burglary caused approximately $5,000 worth of damage and resulted in losses valued at several thousand dollars' worth of alcohol. Over the last four years, he mentioned that their total loss from such incidents has reached around $100,000.

And they can't count on insurance for assistance.

"As a small business owner, you won't find much help with insurance because they tend to abandon you. In fact, we were dropped last month even though we had no claims," Carrillo stated.

Que Rico will sell $1 tacos on Tuesday as part of a fundraising effort aimed at recovering some of the losses.
