Jeresa Featherstone Raises the Bar with Bold Black Tailoring in 'Beyond the Gates'

Daytime’s newest soap opera, Beyond the Gates, drew inspiration from the Met Gala experience and used social media to showcase the work of the costume designer Jeresa Featherstone ’s work.

To celebrate the 2025 Met Gala’s theme "Superfine: Black Tailoring Style," the soap collaborated with Featherstone to showcase some of her top picks from the current fashion season.

Accompanying a photo of Tamara Tunie’s Anita Dupree wearing an elegant red coat Clifton Davis’s Vernon Dupree standing beside her dressed in his black suit, Featherstone exclaimed, "Why don’t we check out some of our top suits from what we’ve seen until now!"

In yet another picture showcasing coordinated couple outfits, Mike Manning’s Smitty in a Burgundy outfit with his spouse Brandon Claybon’s In an entirely black suit, Martin Richardson was observed by Featherstone stating, "The impact and contributions of African Americans in fashion design are clear in our exhibition."

Two photos- one of Maurice Johnson’s Ted Richardson and his on-screen spouse Daphnée Duplaix’s Nicole Richardson is joined by an additional image showing Anita and Nicole from the premiere episode. Featherstone stated, "I make a point to highlight well-known Black fashion designers and labels throughout different regions."

“Such as Kevan Hall, Sergio Hudson, Miguel Wilson, Koss Atelier, Richemnlooks, Ella Lisquez , etc.” Featherstone shared along with a picture of Tamara Tunie, Laura Buglioli, Marquita Tenaya and Sean Freeman.

“As well as a few custom suits and gowns designed by me! We aren’t even halfway through season one, so stay tuned for more superfine looks to come!”  with Clifton Davis with a black suit coat over his white tailored shirt.

Featherstone’s work has not gone unnoticed, the designer has been nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding costume design for a Daytime Drama in 2019, 2020 and took home the win in 2024.

Beyond the Gates , typically broadcast on weekdays, will have its schedule interrupted due to preemption. UEFA Champions League Today . Following this event will be the UEFA Champions League semi-final soccer game featuring Inter Milan against FC Barcelona. The UEFA Champions League is a yearly club football tournament run by the Union of European Football Associations.

Beyond the Gates airs Monday through Friday on CBS at 2 PM Eastern Time, and is also available for streaming weekdays on Paramount+.
