The handyman accused of killing a Thurston County grandma entered a plea of not guilty in court on Tuesday.

Jeffrey Zizz, aged 47, who has previous convictions for child molestation, entered a plea of not guilty to charges including two counts of first-degree murder, kidnapping, and improper handling of deceased remains. He is accused of killing 82-year-old Marcia Norman.

Zizz did not appear in-person during his court hearing on Tuesday, but attended via Zoom.

Zizz served as a handyman for Norman and reportedly developed intense, romantic obsessions towards him, based on statements from police interviews contained within probable cause papers. According to these records, Zizz was the final individual known to have seen Norman prior to her vanishing act, after they shared a meal together on April 1st.

Their investigation led them to serving a search warrant at Zizz's home, where detectives say they uncovered a a five-page correspondence outlining a "theft/assault" incident Of an adult female referred to as "customer," Zizz allegedly stole his roommate's vehicle and escaped to another state, according to court documents. He was later apprehended in Montana for violating terms of his community supervision. previous child molestation conviction .

Prosecutors believe Zizz took Norman's remains to a job site in Olympia where he was contracted to build a shed. Zizz is accused of burying Norman's remains in a shallow grave and then building a shed on top of them.

An autopsy conducted by the Thurston County coroner determined that Norman was bound at the wrists and ankles, assaulted, and ultimately executed with a nail gun.
