Dallas ISD Set to Address District's State After Latest Failing Grade Report

On Tuesday, Dallas ISD is addressing the state of the district following the release of the The Texas Education Agency's most recent A-F grading system .

The Dallas Independent School District is the biggest educational zone in Northern Texas, catering to approximately 140,000 pupils—more learners than many small towns count as residents.

Last month, the Texas Education Agency released its A-F ratings for 2023. Those ratings revealed that Dallas ISD dropped from a 'B' to a 'C'. Here's the breakdown of those scores.

In 2022:

  • Dallas ISD received an overall grade of 'B'.
  • 'C' for student achievement
  • 'B' for school progress
  • 'Successfully closed the gaps'on finalization

In 2023:

  • Dallas ISD fell to an overall 'C'.
  • 'C' for student achievement
  • 'C' for school progress
  • 'Successfully closed the gaps'on closing

Nearly all regions within the state experienced a decline in these assessments. some more than others .

The ratings were released following the TEA’s victory in a lengthy legal battle initiated by more than 100 school districts. These districts had contested the legitimacy of alterations made to the evaluation process. DISD was among these participating districts. This litigation halted the TEA from publishing the 2023 rankings until last month, when an appellate court sided with the TEA.
