Colorado National Monument Issues Raptor Advisory Ahead of 2025

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - The Colorado National Monument has issued a raptor alert for 2025.

Authorities at the National Monument have requested that visitors avoid rock climbing and venturing off designated trails along Otto’s Route during this advisory period. This restriction will remain in place until July 31st, roughly coinciding with the usual end of the raptor nesting season.

The breeding season for raptors at the Colorado National Monument typically spans from March 1st to July 31st.

The advisory warns that raptor nests could potentially be found along other paths as well and encourages climbers to exercise caution whenever they're scaling areas within the monument.
