Aussie Mom Triumphs in Epic Legal Clash Against $429 Billion Fashion Giant

An Australian mother achieved a significant victory in an extended legal dispute with Louis Vuitton, which attempted to rename her brand. The luxury fashion company, worth $429 billion, faced defeat in this case.

Rim Daghmash, the founder of Kenz Beauty which is based on the Gold Coast She named her company after her daughter, Kenzie, who lives with autism.

The title carries significant importance, meaning 'gem of elegance' in Arabic.

However, her brand drew the notice of the worldwide fashion conglomerate LVMH, which asserted that Kenz Beauty was 'deceptively similar' to one of its brands called Kenzo.

The firm urged Ms Daghmash to alter the name.

In spite of the legal pressure, the Queensland The business owner declined to yield.

'A 5-year-old can easily distinguish between Kenzo and Kenz Beauty; these are entirely distinct names,' Ms Daghmash said to A Current Affair.

The conflict began in 2023 when both parties faced off over whether the family-owned cosmetic brand should be compelled to change its image.

Ms. Daghmash remained steadfast against the luxury conglomerate, battling to safeguard her highly personalized brand name.

Although LVMH suggested alternate titles such as 'The Beauty of Kenz' and 'Beautiful Kenz,' Ms. Daghmash declined to alter her business name.

'Kenzie is my autistic daughter's name, in Arabic (my heritage) it means my treasure,' she explained on her website.

I named it Kenz Beauty because Kenzie’s beauty is extraordinary, akin to the splendor of autistic children who possess such remarkable qualities.

In the end, both sides agreed on a compromise: the company would go by the name Kenz Beauty & Co.

"I believe they felt tired of it just as much as we did," Ms Daghmash told Channel Nine.

I am extremely relieved since this venture is my entire world. It holds immense importance for both me and my family.’

With the dispute now behind her, Ms Daghmash has moved to expand her business.

With a growing clientele and a team of five professional skin therapists, Ms Daghmash continues to expand her range of beauty services.

She currently runs South Australia's sole Moroccan hammam, a conventional, women-exclusive day spa modeled after those she frequented during her younger years in the Middle East.
