Angel Reese's Powerful Response After Mastering Birthday, Met Gala, and Pre-Season Game

Raised by a single mother in Baltimore, Angel Reese has faced numerous challenges. People have critiqued everything from her attire to her gameplay, and even harassed her for merely expressing who she is. Yet, throughout these trials, she hasn't faltered; instead, becoming more vocal, confident, and true to herself with each obstacle encountered. Many only notice her celebrity status, fanbase, and public attention but overlook the hard work, determination, and relentless effort she puts into every aspect of her life off-camera. Whether you admire her or not, as the leading figure on social media within the WNBA, she continues to make waves. This past week, she once again demonstrated her prowess—running an entire marathon to ensure her presence was felt across both aspects of her world.

Beginning this Friday, the Chicago Sky player competed against Brazil in an exhibition match at her former school, LSU. Later, on Saturday, Reese marked her 23rd birthday with a party inspired by Y2K fashion—even though her real birthday had been on Tuesday. The following day, Sunday, she headed to New York City to get ready for the Met Gala. Afterward, she traveled back to Chicago, arriving around 2 a.m. on Tuesday, solely to prepare for the upcoming preseason game between the Sky and the Lynx.

What a packed weekend! By the time it ended, she finally got a chance to catch her breath and sent out a tweet. now I can tweet.... I SURVIVED IT 😭 God WAS behind it whew child I AM EXHAUSTED. Well, she had every right to be.

The Chi-Town Barbie executed the most spectacular full-court press we've witnessed. Not just showing up but absolutely slaying it. During that initial pre-season game, she scored an impressive 15 points along with grabbing 10 rebounds right in front of her home crowd, wearing that #5 jersey with immense pride.

Then, there was Met. Reese, in only her second Met Gala ever, made it her moment. This time, she wasn’t just a guest, she was a member of the exclusive host committee, joining legends like Simone Biles, Spike Lee, and Usher.  She wore a custom black two-piece look from Thom Browne—a long-sleeve cropped top, lace-up details, a corset skirt with a train.

It was both elegant and daring, without question, yet her diamonds truly took center stage. Adorned with jewelry from Graff—a prestigious label typically saved for royals and celebrities—she stood out remarkably. Following all the glitter and glamour, she returned for the second preseason match. I have no idea how I'm managing this. It's all about the positive energy, she told the media. Well, whatever those vibes were, they were working. Even running on fumes, she added 9 points and 8 rebounds in the Sky’s 74–69 win.

Her Coach Tyler Marsh backed her all the way, even supporting her Met Gala trip. He said it straight that she earned that moment. Frankly, this entire situation highlights two major points. Firstly, Chicago boasts one of the most luminous talents in all of sports, full stop. Secondly, given his tender years, Reese is poised for greater heights ahead.

However, at the Met, she was not the sole representative from the WNBA community.

Along with Angel Reese, the Liberty trio brought the heat to the Met

This year’s Met Gala saw four WNBA players show up and show off. Because while the NBA playoffs make it tricky for their male counterparts to attend, the WNBA’s May start lets these ladies shine.

Monday night was wild in NYC. The Knicks squeaked past the Celtics in the playoffs and on the red carpet, the Liberty took over. Breanna Stewart, Sabrina Ionescu, and Jonquel Jones pulled up, repping the W in style alongside Liberty co-owner Clara Wu Tsai. All three impressed Sergio Hudson. Sab appeared sophisticated wearing a flowing skirt, blazer, and white top. JJ transformed her hairstyle into something extraordinary.

It was Stewie who nailed the look though. With her perfectly styled and gelled swoop of hair, the hat positioned just right, and an all-white suit, she made a bold statement. While the New York threesome took a group photo inside the museum, Reese got into the vibe with Megan Thee Stallion and Doechier. They also made a video diary of themselves sampling appetizers. Additionally, alongside these pros, we spotted college standout Flau'jae Johnson, shining in a Walter Mendez dress paired with a Lynn Paul headdress and Grown Brilliance accessories. She truly stood out as a complete star, one who has always shone brightly.

Even some NBA representatives were present. D-Wade accompanied by Gabrielle Union, and Savannah James keeping things going, whereas LeBron James missed it due to a knee injury. In summary, the basketball community completely dominated that red carpet event.

Let’s check if we spot more W stars on this red carpet next year. For now, however, as the regular season kicks off shortly, we’re eager to see that Met energy continuing to shine through their game-day outfits as well.
