Weather Experts Teach Students About Severe Safety Measures This Week
The KMBC 9 News First Alert Weather Team is heading back to school all week this week — this time teaching students how to stay safe in severe weather.
The severe weather season has arrived in our region, and it’s crucial for students to understand what constitutes a storm, recognize warning signs, comprehend the significance of alerts, and learn how to select a secure place for taking cover.

On Monday, News Chopper 9's Johnny Rowlands landed at Wendell Phillips Elementary School in Kansas City, Missouri. He helped explain what it's like to spot a storm from the sky.
Day 2: Madison Place Elementary Day two brings us to Madison Place Elementary in Olathe. The students learned where the safest places to go during a tornado if they are in school, at home, or driving in the car.
They also learned about how graphics are opposite on the green screen.
