SUGAR LAND, Texas - Officials were present at the location after an incident involving law enforcement gunfire in Sugar Land on Tuesday evening.

What we knowThe Sugar Land police stated that the incident started when they received calls about a man shooting near a golf course in the vicinity of Greatwood Lake and Forestlake Drive on Tuesday night.
Pete Lara, who serves as the Chief of Police for the City of Sugar Land Police Department, stated that shortly before 7:45 p.m., residents reported hearing gunshots in their neighborhood.
Lara said a officer was in the area on an unrelated matter and was able to respond to the scene along with several other officers.
When authorities arrived, they faced a white male estimated to be between his late 20s and early 30s, who was discovered shooting a gun at the ground.
As stated by Lara, when the officers confronted the suspect, gunshots were exchanged; ultimately, the suspect was shot.
Lara stated three officers were involved in the incident.
The man was taken to the hospital.
No officers were injured in the shooting.

Authorities did not disclose the state of health of the injured suspect.
His name has also not been released by authorities.
