Steph Curry Leaves Game 1 With Hamstring Strain, Raising Worries for Warriors

The Warriors likely didn’t picture the beginning of their second-round playoff series starting like this.

Stephen Curry exited their 99-88 win in Game 1 over the Timberwolves on Tuesday night with 8:19 left in the second quarter with a hamstring strain.

He was sidelined for the rest of the match.

We're certainly preparing as if he won't be ready for Thursday's Game 2," head coach Steve Kerr stated afterwards. "However, we aren't certain yet. Given his hamstring injury, it seems unlikely that he will play on Thursday.

Curry began the game strongly, scoring 13 points on 5-for-9 shooting (including 3 for 6 from beyond the arc), along with grabbing one rebound and contributing an assist. This helped Golden State maintain a lead of 44-31 at halftime.

The player, who has been selected as an All-Star 11 times, seemed to clutch his left hamstring during the second quarter when he went for a rebound. It looked like he winced and carefully dribbled the ball upcourt.

Brandin Podziemski entered the game for the star to close out the first half as Curry went back to the locker room.

In the absence of Curry, Buddy Hield and Jimmy Butler managed to score 24 and 20 points each, with Draymond Green contributing an additional 18 points.

Podziemski contributed with eight rebounds, three assists, and three points.

Should the Warriors lose Curry for an extended period, it hardly needs mentioning what a significant blow this would be when facing Minnesota, who eliminated the Lakers in the opening round.

Golden State is coming off a grueling seven-game series with the sixth-seeded Rockets.

The Warriors and T-Wolves will be back in action on Thursday.
