Smokey Robinson Faces Sexual Assault Allegations From Four Women
A new lawsuit has been filed accusing Smokey Robinson of alleged rape and sexual assault against four women.
The legal document filed against Robinson and his spouse, Frances, which was acquired by People magazine, includes accusations from four previous workers who allege that the performer behind "I Second That Emotion" engaged in acts of sexual battery, false imprisonment, and gender-based violence.
The plaintiffs assert that Robinson's supposed sexual battery was carried out in a manner that was "willful, reckless, and malicious," showing deliberate indifference to their "rights, privacy, and emotions."
The lawsuit states that Jane Doe 1 alleges the ex-wife of the former Motown exec was aware of her husband’s previous incidents of sexual impropriety but did not take necessary steps to address them. This includes failing to act despite settlements reached with multiple victims who faced comparable attacks.
She claims that the initial sexual assault took place in March 2023, during which she faced "multiple instances of sexual assault and harassment."
Jane Doe 2 asserts that she was employed by the defendants from 2014 to 2020 until she was compelled to quit because of Robinson's "ongoing sexual assaults and sexual harassment."
Jane Doe 3 additionally served as a housekeeper for Robinson from 2012 up to 2024. She reportedly had to step down because of alleged continuous occurrences of "sexual assault and harassment" perpetrated by him towards her. According to the lawsuit, she asserts that Robinson sexually assaulted her more than twenty times.
A fourth housekeeper claimed in the lawsuit that she was employed by Robinson from 2006 to 2024 and was reportedly compelled to quit because of "ongoing sexual assaults and sexual harassment."
The Robinsons got married in 2002. They haven't made any statements regarding these claims.
