Pickleball Tournament Aims to Raise Funds for Type 1 Diabetes This Month

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) — Over 300,000 kids and teens under the age of 20 are living with Type One Diabetes.
Breakthrough T1D, previously known as JDRF, is dedicated to finding a cure for the condition and enhancing daily living for individuals affected by it.
The Isermann family members—Greg, Molly, and Charlie—met with WMTV on Tuesday to discuss an approaching fundraising event.
"It certainly changes things," Molly stated as she elaborated on how the illness affects her son, Charlie.
"When Charlie initially received his diagnosis, it turned into a significant learning process for us as we figured out how to support him daily," she explained.
To increase public attention, the family has joined forces with the Capital Area Pickleball Association to organize a fundraising event later this month.
The event will take place at Hitters Tennis and Pickleball Club.
A social gathering is scheduled for May 16, followed by a tournament on May 17-18.
The funds collected will be directed toward discovering a cure, preventing, and enhancing the quality of life for those living with Type 1 Diabetes.
