The wife of NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt Jr. Amy has revealed an unexpected piece of information regarding their partnership: she has referred to her spouse as "Ralph" during their entire time together.
The pair got married in 2016 after Junior retired from full-time play. racing , has offered fans a peek into his personal world. Following his transition from full-time racing in 2017, Dale Jr., whose father is the renowned seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion, has managed to juggle occasional races alongside spending time with his family and building a thriving commentary role.

In a recent installment of their podcast, 'Bless Your Hardt,' Amy revealed that she refers to her husband by his legal first name, Ralph - a moniker seldom used by anyone else. Dale Jr. initially brought up the topic of his unusual nickname, stating: "She can't call you by the nickname your buddies use. She needs to take you more seriously than that."
Amy responded, "I’m definitely not going to call Dale 'Junebug.' That’s just not attractive."
Junior humorously remarked, "Amy called me Ralph instead of saying my actual name. Nobody ever calls me Ralph." In response, Amy cheekily explained, "To be honest, I only used 'Ralph' because he didn’t catch when I mentioned 'Dale Jr.' Using ‘Ralph’ caught his attention; at first, he seemed confused hearing it for the initial time.”

In a previous conversation with Us Weekly , Amy opened up about her relationship with the racing icon and how she's perceived by his fans. She revealed: "I grew up in south Texas, I didn't grow up around racing.
"She noted that there is a significant level of pessimism associated with holding that role," offering a perceptive perspective on her encounters with her husband's admirers.
On the 'Bless Your Hardt' podcast, she confessed her struggles with fame, admitting: "I'm not really one to seek out extra attention.
"Being in a relationship with Dale, there just is a certain amount of that, just because. It's funny, you sit in the studio and we're just sitting here talking and it's just the two of us. I think you forget sometimes how many people are watching or the reach of the show."
She added: "The additional focus isn’t really my cup of tea. It’s something I will have to learn to adjust to. However, it’s certainly not what I desired."
Her spouse, Dale Jr., praised her ability to handle the ongoing public attention, remarking afterward, “Being part of the show is incredibly enjoyable as it truly offers everyone their first look at who (Amy) really is.”
