Arrest Made After Deadly Hit-And-Run Kills Woman, Injures Man in Detroit

The Detroit police announced that they have made an arrest in relation to this case. deadly hit-and-run incident from last month that took a woman's life and injured her boyfriend.

On Tuesday, police revealed that the arrest took place on May 1, with the suspect being formally charged two days later on May 3. According to authorities, the tip-offs from local residents and nearby establishments provided crucial video evidence leading to the apprehension.

On April 19, an accident occurred where Gratiot Avenue intersects with East Grand Boulevard. According to law enforcement officials, two individuals who were operating electric scooters on East Grand Boulevard were hit by a car driving along Gratiot. The family has confirmed that the casualties were Juan Smiley and D'Joran James.

Smiley died at the scene, whereas James is still in the hospital.

"Even though this occurred, I forgave you, and there are no ill feelings in my heart,” James stated on Tuesday. “Just as I pray for myself, my family, friends, and Juan along with their family and friends, I also pray for you.”
